One-pagers are great review tools that help students synthesize and prioritize information.

Previously with juniors and seniors I had simply provided them with a blank piece of copy paper and encouraged them to use whatever graphic organizer format worked for them. By mid-year they were producing some incredible work that even included their own original artwork and interpretations.

However, as I prepared to do this activity with 8th graders for the first time last semester, I quickly realized they were going to need more structure to be successful.

The one-pagers above are examples of how I structured history content for them. Each unit has important terms, dates, and visuals to help jog their memory. I used a variety of formats to keep the information visually interesting and help it become "sticky" in their brain.
